| so i never write on this thing anymore, so i am not even sure if anyone will read if I post. but here it goes:
I have been working camp (M-Fuge) for four weeks and yesterday I saw something amazing! working at a day camp for the developmenaly disabled my group saw people who had been non-responsive every week come alive! There are few things in the world that can fill a soul with as much joy as seeing a serverely disabled woman sing, no yell Jesus loves me, at the top of her lungs. Not just any woman, for this story we will call her Flower (cheesy I know but I looked up what her real name ment and I like it). Flower sits in her wheel chair and yells out phrases that sound like mumbling most of the time. When I can figure out what she is saying she is usually asking for her keys, telling me that I have taken them, or demading that I go get one of the workers there. Yesterday was the same for the most part, but then we sang If your happy and you know it. She was just busting with joy, bouncing her beautiful large head back and forth, just laughing away. Then we sang a few more songs and she actully responded and sang along. We even did the hocky pocky and I moved her wheel chair around so she could participate. It was fabulous. But the moment that my eyes just about filled with tears was when we sang Jesus loves me. She is only able to say three words of the song and she sang them even when it was not time for them to be sung. She just sat there swaying back and forth, with her head leaned all the way back, eyes closed, yelling Jesus loves me, over and over again. As I go to this site each week I wonder if they know Jesus loves them. Most of them cannot speak at all, many of them cannot move. Flower is not usually an easy one to connect with, but we sang Jesus loves me and she knew it was true, deep in her heart she knew it was true. Her face showed it, she knows the joy of being loved my Christ.

| did you know that wheat-thins are one of my favorite snacks? I love cookies, I love, and I mean love cake. french baggets from Panera, make my whole heart happy. speaking of Panera, their bagels are amazing!! fresh, soft, and warm goodness! cholcolate chunk cookies are amazing! tortillas are pretty much similar to mana from God all my favorite meals and sncks and resturants revolve around bread have i mentioned yet that my favorite dish to make is chicken with whole wheat pasta and there is this lasanga dish that I recently became obsessed with, that is sooo good Thanksgiving stuffing, now that is some good stuff! I don't like turkey that much but stuffing that is, ummmm good. free bread sticks at olive garden so pretty much I really, really like baked goods.
I am allergic to WHEAT!!!!! Is this some kind of mean, mean joke!! No more wheat! when they said no more coffee, i cut down, they said no more tomatos, I said "joy!!" but now they have gone too far No more wheat!!! nothing with wheat by products, pretty much cut out baked goods and proccesed foods and I can eat that. meat, friut and veggies... and random wheat substitutes (thanks a million to suzanne for bringing me some goodies) I can have rice cakes!! now that sounds like great replacement for fresh out of the oven cookies dosn't it!
on a happier note 1) Suzanne is pretty much amazing bringing me an asortment of random gluten free goodies 2) the absence of wheat in my life has resulted in the absence of 3 pounds, so if this keeps up I will become more ok with this evil no wheat plan | | |
